After one map that i needed to rework track and do deco for it( I did my best for it), next mappers just destroyed all, I just lost any motivation to do next map that I would rework again.
Once someone told me that I dont need to rework it.. but hey.... if map are unplayable then I needed to do something.
When you will start with RMS 2, then try to find 3-5 most experienced and best mappers for being judges, Then let them assess who can do playable map and who can take a part in RMS. Let this tournament give fun to everyone, not only to beginners who are fucking happy that they going to have map with their idol in contrast to experienced mappers who are embarrased that they need to create shit.
I can agree to it to some degree. This "event" got me the first map I have refused to map on since I started mapping years ago, it's a full on coinflip if you're getting something good or bad, and it seems to land more on bad than good, same goes to motivation of the mappers you have your map with. I'm for example still waiting for people to finish their job on 2 maps (which is one minute of track on one and 40s of deco on the other, like cmon) whilst all I kept getting was "Yeah I'll do it, it isn't much work anyway" and end up still having not touched it a month later, I'll not call out names to not talk trash about them. Would have been nice if people would show the effort Karnikkl has put into it, well maybe a bit less, but you get it. Experience I had with v1 just makes me not want to consider even applying for v2.
Re: RMS v2 ideas and conclusion of RMS v1
This whole concept is stupid, why forcing someone to map if he doesn't want to?
Re: RMS v2 ideas and conclusion of RMS v1
Finally i know what is rms haha

Why sign up for the event if they don't want to map?

But this post is not about our problems with maps. I just wrote why experienced mappers wont have fun.
So at this point I didnt say much when you didnt like my deco. I tried my best copying your " same rocks same tree and palms " decoration, I'm sorry I couldn't paste the same shit everywhere and call it decoration. As far the scaling flowers and plants not being visible, it was a script in the map that wasnt started which allowed some of the stuff to disappear. Overall I respect you as a mapper, but when I've been told the 2nd half of the decoration was way better, I think that says enough when I was just a backup mapper. @slimy
your track was good, you did way better than expected. Keep on improving.

Re: RMS v2 ideas and conclusion of RMS v1
Well to be fair... RMS v1 wasn’t rules/management fault, it was MAPPERS fault. While writing an application you obliged to take a part in 2 maps which means about 3 minutes of either track or deco. If you know the definition of word „random” then you should’ve expected who you might have to work with. Imo you SHOULD complete this task no matter what, but many people just kept on leaving/not mapping „bcs not”. There might be few reasons for that, but still... it shows if you are a trustable person or not. Imagine that Karni participated in 6 (out of total 13 finished maps!) maps even tho he had tons of individual unfinished maps and some of you just didn’t move a muscle because „their carrier would be destroyed” by making 1 or 2 bad maps. I understand that you might think that some beginning mappers did their job within 2 hours and you won’t put any effort if they didn’t, but what if they really tried? How can you know if they didnt spent full 2 weeks on improving their part, but still the result isn’t perfect? If one of my maps would stay unfinished I would be really sad since I spent about a month doing something you just judge „bad”.
RMS would be better with 5 out of 5 maps finished than 13 out of 20 finished and some with big delays, but sadly this is how the world works and some people don’t give a fuck about others and since we can’t really punish them in any other way than banning them from next RMS events they just felt unpunished for the whole time.
Much respect to backup mappers and those who participated in more than 2 maps to keep the RMS event alive

Just because I wanna mention it, after all RMS was literally the most fun I've ever had mapping for a long time.
I never cared about to get the awesome mappers in my maps in first place, I saw RMS as a chance to try new things out I wouldn't do usually. Especially after doing 6 maps (and that aren't even all the maps I'm included yet.. XD) where the majority of decoration I had to do wasn't even close to my style I've got a whole new view of mapping.
On maps like Riptide or Bipolar it was the very first time I had to try to not overdose decoration + doing nature which I use about 10-15% max in most of my maps.
On Neon Cloak it was kinda hard for me to simply copy ZinC's decoration so I found my way to combine it with stuff I usually do which seemingly worked out fine after what I've heard about the map (same with Glare of Wisdom, GameX's decoration was the hardest for me).
Beside that I was also able to decide how to decorate a track of someone else with nobody who could stop me which is a situation I appreciated since fts. can be very hard sometimes with expectations.
I used that chance to make the decoration of Dire Docks and it not only ended up being my favorite map of RMS (ye ik, Im an arrogant piece of shit but it's my opinion xD) but it's also one of my most effort maps because whoever made the track, no matter if I like him or not, no matter if he is famous or not, I just wanted to give my best to make him happy when he sees the map again.
I feel like getting effort like that to your map, no matter if you put it in yourself or not will rather make you regret you didn't give all because you lost potential to that map which you might change in future maps or you will be proud of yourself for giving everything aswell.
I really hope EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE will be able to stop thinking about mapping with legendary mappers like Gteatero, BriaN etc. or stops mapping because the map "sucks".
Probably a bad argument for someone who likes maps like ZinC v7 but I don't see the point in calling maps objectiviely bad, you rather like a map or you don't but DM map ratings shouldn't be based on what the majority of the community likes the most.
To all the "legendary mappers" who will participate in RMS v2: Don't fucking quit a map because it's too bad for you, just make your part on it well to show them how it's done, at least that won't kill the motivation for the mappers and especially Ceeser.
To all the "small mappers": Don't fucking participate with the intention to map with the big guys, you should be able to appreciate every ft. partner you get and try your best.
I really loved RMS and even tho I had quite fun doing my extra maps on it it isn't how it should be done guys!
So get yourself together next time and let's make some sick maps!
P.S.: Slimy ft when?
